Just upriver, these fellows still reign supreme.

Seems Like Old Times
all night long, the same old song...my money's all gone...she done me wrong...
I turned and I tossed but I could not sleep, the band kept playing that honky tonk beat.

The Strength of Man
I made a wrong turn, a cool wind is blowing. Someone nearby is barbequing. Damn now I'm hungry and lost..
Yesterdays
Unfortunate events sent me back to my old stomping grounds. Nostalgia never had it this industrial. Along the banks of the Mighty Mississippi.

Walking in the Shadow of the Blues
I'm always fascinated by the ramshackle stores and dwellings that lie just off the blacktop. With no beaten path in or out, these had to be there before the two lane was laid in. And yet they die that slow forgotten death.

The Invisible Man
Dr. Griffin, a famous scientist and chemist, discovers the secret of invisibility. The Invisible Man becomes mad and can only use his power destructively. He was last seen here.

Highway to Hell
I was looking for a distillery but got lost. They say the road to hell is paved with good intention...

My Last Days On Earth
Just outside Schafferstown, Pa.
Sunday afternoon in the not to distant past, a road trip. Unclear of the final destination, I pull into the local mini-mart. The conversation was enlightening.
"Do you happen to know where there is an old distillery in the area?"
"Nope, never heard of such a thing."
"Any chance any of the locals around here might know?"
"I doubt it, but come to think of it, there is Distillery Rd. about a half mile back. You probably drove right past it."
"Thanks, Genius"
Catch a quick glimpse before it is gone.

It Shouldn't Happen To A Dream
This was probably once someone's dream house. Many dreams crash in on themselves. You pick up and move on.

The Crooked Man
A morose fellah may see this is as a metaphor for the twilight years. He should shake that feeling and embrace the things that still bring joy.

On The Way To Somewhere
Unfortunately the folk who reside in the homeless camp from where this picture was taken are going nowhere at all.

Rollin' In My Sweet Baby's Arms
Muriel: What's so special about that thing in the back corner that you want a picture of it?
Fang: Darlin' that's a real pot still, at least 75 years old. Cool, huh?
Muriel: If you say so.

The Long Years
Time for another slice of american dwellings. These tend to be more rural except for this old fellow who stands as a testament amidst newer developments. A quiet middle finger to the stifling future.

In The Next Room
You do realize that it was the Whiskey Rebellion that first tested our young democracy? Nice to see some folk keeping the faith! A half a mile before the road changes to a dirt track you can smell the sweet aroma of corn whisky being distilled and you know you are close to heaven.

Let Me Be Your Side Track
When Jimmie Rodgers sang about the railroad, I doubt he envisioned these monsters. Hurtling through the middle of nowhere, this dude is king of the jungle!

Night of the Chill Blue
As the sun sets, majesty and despair meet in the cold cruel winter. We have been spared the inconvenience...so far this year.

Living Peace
Tucked away on an outdoor wall of a garage, folk art with a shelf life of whatever the elements determine. Oftimes in the field just up the road there is fresh fruits and veggies along with jams and kettle corn for sale. More than once I have sat on a tree stump or log and ate an apple and just stared, taking a break on my way south.

I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues
I'm old, I've worked hard and served my purpose. I'm no longer as handsome as I once was and some things just plain don't work. I sit out here in the back pasture, just biding my time.

On The Sunny Side Of The street
I risked life and limb* for this photo, Hanging from a chain link fence on the wrong side of the bridge from the walkway. 50 yards to the left is the Potomac River, these tracks run parallel to the Yankee side,
* Well maybe that is an exaggeration, but people sure looked at me funny. The view from the scary area was way cooler than down below the bridge.
